Paducah couldn't overcome an early six run deficit as the Chiefs dropped a home game to Muhlenberg County 9-8 Thursday night at Brooks Stadium.
The Chiefs trailed 6-0 after 3 innings. The Chiefs tied the game with 2 runs in the 4th inning and 4 more in 5th. Muhlenberg County scored 3 more runs in the 6th inning to grab a 9-6 lead.
Paducah answered with 2 runs in the 8th, but could draw no closer.
Reece Puckett was 3-for-5 for the Stallions. Luke Price was 3-for-5 with 3 RBI.
Cal Johnson picked up the win. He gave up 3 runs on 2 hits with 5 strikeouts.
Blake Bagenstos took the loss for Paducah. He surrendered 3 runs on 5 hits with 1 strikeout.
Reid Pope homered for the Chiefs. John Michael Russ was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI. Alan Roden finished 2-for-5 with 1 RBI.
The Chiefs (8-6) host Owensboro tonight. First pitch is set for 6:30.
