New Murray State Baseball coach Kevin Moulder was introduced at a press conference in the Murray Room of the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.

Moulder, who was hired July 8, comes to MSU from Saint Louis University where he spent seven seasons as pitching coach and associate head coach.

"There are a lot of things to be excited about," said Moulder. "The great thing is that Mr. Ward (Director of Athletics Allen Ward) realized the program has the chance to be really special. But it's more than just the head coach.  The facility upgrades we have going in and the streaming of the games is going to be a huge help. The coaches that are here, they also know that the name of the game is recruiting. It's the kids that win the games. That's what we're going to try and do here. We're going to recruit and get top-level players in here that can compete for an OVC championship. It's going to be a process, but I couldn't be more excited about it."

Moulder said the program at Murray State is similar to when he arrived at Saint Louis.

"Murray is a great school and so is Saint Louis," he said. "When we took over, we were towards the bottom of the conference. But we're not far off; we have a great core of players coming back. With a couple of extra pieces I think we can be very competitive right away. I look forward to building the best program we can."

Moulder helped build Saint Louis into a winner during his seven seasons. SLU won three-straight Atlantic 10 regular-season championships, two A-10 tournament championships and had a pair of NCAA Regional appearances under head coach Darin Hendrickson.

"From day one, everyone's been super friendly and I knew that on the front end as a former player what I was getting into. I've sold my wife Tess on that and it has eased the transition for both of us," said Moulder, who played for the Racers' 2003 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship team and NCAA Tournament participant. "I've reached out to all of our players and they've all been positive and I wouldn't expect anything less."

Coach Moulder takes over a Racer team that includes 2014 OVC Pitcher of the Year Brock Downey, All-OVC second baseman Anthony Bayus and All-OVC Freshman & Freshman All-America Tyler Lawrence.

Moulder started his coaching career in 2004 as an assistant at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park and then at Lake City (Fla.) Community College. He also had experience coaching summer baseball in the Texas Collegiate League and St. Louis Metro Collegiate League.

A 2004 Murray State graduate, Moulder earned a bachelor's degree in organizational communication. He earned a master's in sports administration from Central Missouri in 2007.
