The awards keep rolling in for Murray State quarterback KD Humphries on the heels of his performance in an upset of then-23rd ranked Southeast Missouri. The redshirt sophomore was named as the Co-Offensive Player of the Week by Sports Network and to the weekly National All-Start Team by College Sporting News.
These honors mark the third and fourth awards of the week for Humphries, as he was named as the adidas® OVC Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week on Sunday. Earlier in the day, he was named as the OVC Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.
Humphries was 21-for-36 for 297 yards in Murray State's 44-41 double overtime upset of 23rd-ranked Southeast Missouri. He had just one interception on the night, while connecting on a career-high six touchdown passes.
The Montgomery, Alabama native had long passes of 49 and 75 yards in the game, both of which were touchdowns. He also engineered two crucial drives that ended with touchdown passes, the first being the game-tying drive with 46 seconds left in regulation and the second, the game-winner in the second overtime. Over the two overtime periods, Humphries went 3-for-5 for 36 yards with a long of 22 and a touchdown.
On Saturday, Humphries and the rest of the Racers will look to keep their momentum alive when they travel to Austin Peay in search of their first road win of the season. Kick-off at Governors Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
