In Lexington, they're taking UK football more seriously than they used to. The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that some 400 people have signed a petition asking the city to move Halloween to the 30th, because the 31st is a Saturday, and there's a UK home game, along with a Breeder's Cup race.

The petition claims there'll be too much traffic for police and the city to handle unless they move Halloween. The Mayor's chief of staff points out that Friday night wouldn't be much better, because it's high school football night. City spokeswoman Susan Straub says "the police have told us they can handle" the traffic.

Lexington officials have been reluctant to move Halloween, and when they have, it hasn't always gone well. City Hall was flooded with complaints from parents when they moved Halloween to November 1st in 2013 because of an approaching storm, and in 1992 they tried to move Halloween to the day before, because it conflicted with UK's homecoming that year, but that day turned out to be the start of the Jewish Sabbath, so they left it alone.
