Austin Peay freshman and McCracken County alum Chase Korte has been named to both the Ohio Valley Conference's All-Newcomer team and All-Conference team by a vote of the league's head coaches.

The honors were announced at Monday's postseason awards banquet during the OVC Tournament competition.

Korte is the first Gov since Anthony Bradley and Marco Iten in 2011 to earn all-conference and all-newcomer honors in the same season.

"Chase had a very solid year for us," said Austin Peay head coach Robbie Wilson. "He's been very consistent and shown an ability to go low every time he tees it up. He has a bright future ahead of him."

Korte posted four top-10 finishes and a .739 winning percentage in his first season as a Governor, posting the fourth-best stroke average among all OVC players. That 72.8 average is the best by a Gov since Iten's senior campaign, when he averaged 72.18 strokes per 18 holes en route to PING All-Region honors and an appearance at the NCAA Championships.

Fourteen times, Korte has recorded a round of par or better, including at least once in eight of 11 tournaments topped by a career-best 67 in the final round of the Wofford Intercollegiate two weeks ago.

At Wofford, Korte enjoyed the best of his four top-10 performances, finishing runner-up; he also placed sixth in his collegiate debut at the Murray State Invitational and was sixth at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate and fifth at the MTSU Intercollegiate to close the fall season.
