Kentucky coach Mark Stoops has announced that junior quarterback Jalen Whitlow will transfer after starting 15 games the past two seasons for the Wildcats.

Alternating at times last season with Maxwell Smith, Whitlow threw for 1,033 yards and five touchdowns in eight starts. He threw for 801 yards and five TDs in 10 games with seven starts as a freshman after Smith sustained an ankle injury.

Whitlow also rushed for 663 yards and nine TDs the past two seasons. This spring, he was among a QB crew including Smith, Patrick Towles, Reese Phillips and freshman Drew Barker.

Stoops said in a statement that he respects Whitlow's decision, adding, "I want everyone to understand how hard he has worked and the effort he has given since our staff has been here."
