Kentucky football fans sitting in the South upper level will be able to enjoy more comfortable bench-back seating for the 2017 season.

In May, a project will begin to install blue bench-back seating in the upper South seating areas of Commonwealth Stadium. Nearly 6,000 seats – 5,960 to be exact – in Sections 221-231 will have bench backs added through the project. This will not affect existing chair-back seating in Rows 2-7, which will remain in place.

UK Athletics continues to progress toward its goal of installing bench-back or chair-back seating throughout Commonwealth Stadium. Through the renovation of the stadium completed in 2015, bench-back or chair-back seating was installed along both sidelines in the lower level. Before the 2016 season, the remainder of seats in the lower level was outfitted with bench backs, with the exception of the student section in the East end zone. UK Athletics has made these investments in response to fan feedback about seat comfort in Commonwealth.

Season and single-game ticket prices in the South upper level will not change as a result of the installation of bench-back seating. The majority of season-ticket seats in this area are available for $310 apiece with no corresponding K Fund donation attached.

Season tickets for UK football's attractive seven-game home slate are on sale now. As of Friday morning, more than 30,688 season tickets had been sold, representing a renewal rate of 91 percent.
