William “Bill” Wright, 87, of Paducah, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018.
Bill was born in Paducah on May 12, 1931. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was employed with Chevron Corporation as a terminal superintendent. He was a longtime member of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a man with a quick wit and someone who truly “never met a stranger”. He enjoyed gardening and had a love for all animals, especially his dog “Pip”. He will be remembered as a wonderful grandfather who loved his six grandchildren.
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Barkley Wright; his daughters, Debra Benson (Mark), of Brookport, Illinois, Cindy Schneider (Brad), of Paducah; his son, Brent Wright (Leslie), of Paducah; his grandchildren, Clare and Amanda Benson, Derek and Dylan Schneider, Brendan and Preston Wright.
Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver James Wright and Arvella Potts Wright.
Funeral services with military honors are scheduled for 11:00 A.M Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Bro. Curtis Franklin and Bro. Jeff Biggs officiating. A private burial will take place later.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 7680 New Hope Rd., Paducah, KY 42001.
