He was an active member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where he established a Second-Saturday Breakfast to benefit the church’s building fund. He served on multiple committees, volunteered at the Community Kitchen of Paducah and prepared meals for church events. Bill was a member for over 50 years of the North Vernon Indiana Masonic Lodge #59 F&AM and the Eastern Star. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves.
Bill is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 52 years, Neva (Ewers) Allen; daughters, Rachael (Jimmie) Mayes of Paducah and Rebecca Allen of Memphis, Tennessee; granddaughters, Hannah Elizabeth Burnett of Louisville, Kentucky, Sarah Elizabeth Drysdale of Lexington, Kentucky and Catherine Burke Drysdale of Bardwell, Kentucky. He is also survived by his sisters, Donna (Victor) Hancock of La Belle, Florida, Ronita (Ray) Knarr of North Vernon and Nancy (Steve) Low of Columbus, Indiana, in addition to several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Juanita Ramsey Allen.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018 at First Christian Church, 415 Audubon Drive, Paducah, KY with Rev. Jamie Eubanks officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018 at First Christian Church.
