Wilbur E. Thompson, 84, of Paducah passed away at 8:02 A.M. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Lakes of Paducah.
Wilbur was born on March 11, 1935 in Smithland, Kentucky to the late Wilbur “Cotton” Eldon and Aline Quertermous Thompson. He worked as a manager at Heublein for 5 and a half years and was a foreman at Jim Smith Contracting for 11 years. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He proudly served and fought for his country in the Korea and Vietnam War and retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after serving 25 years.
He is survived by his son, Keith Thompson and wife, Carla of Paducah; one stepson, Bill Yeary and wife Carolyn of Little Rock, Arkansas; and six grandchildren, Max Eldon Thompson, Brady Orr, Bailey Harper and wife Rachel, Beth Harper, Kyle Yeary, Mark Yeary; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, J.B. Thompson; and two sisters, Peggy Lambert and Martha Hooks.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Fred French officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. service time on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
