Wallace Barker, 96, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Barker was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran of Paducah where he was Chairman of the Ushers and a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a retired salesman for McCartney Produce and after his retirement he drove cars for local car dealers. Mr. Barker was a U.S. Army Sergeant veteran and Purple Heart recipient having served during the Pacific Theater in WWII.
Mr. Barker is survived by two daughters, Nancy Carol Neel of Wasilla, Alaska and Susan Rhnee Barker Griggs and husband, Bill of Paducah; a son, William Edward Barker and wife, Jeannie Wise Barker of Paducah; nine grandchildren, Ryan Griggs (April) of Smithville, MO, Clint Griggs of Frankfort, KY, Clay Griggs (April) of Smithville, MO, Eddy Barker (Stephanie) of Lucas, TX, Ashley Matthews of Franklin, TN, Natalie Garber (Derek) of Brentwood, TN, William Barker of Paducah, David Neel and Brad Neel (Jamie) all of Wasilla, Alaska; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Nell Beyer Barker; a sister, Era Gilbert; a brother, George Barker and two infant brothers. His parents were William ‘Ed’ Ezra Barker and Nona Peck Barker.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Don Reusch officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Beyer Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the service time of 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
