Sue Powell, 73, of Paducah, KY passed away at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at her residence. She had worked at Lourdes Hospital as a Housekeeping Supervisor and was retired from the Paducah City School System where she worked in the cafeteria at Morgan Elementary School. Sue was a member of the Heartland Worship Center.
She is survived by her husband, James T. Powell of Paducah, KY; daughter, Shelia Rena Barnes of Paducah, KY; son, James Kevin Powell and wife Cindy of Paducah, KY; sisters, Dorothy Lawrence of Paducah, KY and Christine Ivey of Canton, OH; brother, Chester Cathey of Paducah, KY; grandchildren, Casey Powell of Paducah, KY and Shay Morgan and husband Robert of Paducah, KY; great grandchildren, Nolan Goode, Chloe Camp, Peyton Morgan and several nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by two sisters, Laverne Davis and her twin sister, Catherine Lou Cathey; five brothers, Bobby Cathey, Charles Cathey, Ralph Cathey, Wilford Cathey and William Cathey. Her parents were William A. Cathey and Hattie Smithers Cathey.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Todd Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
