S. Ray Dew, age 84, of Paducah, KY passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Dew will be remembered for his fond love for his family. He was a member of Clarks River Baptist Church. He was a co-owner and insurance agent for Woodall & Melton Insurance which later would be known as Western Rivers Insurance Corporation. He was also a technical illustrator for Union Carbide in Oakridge, TN and was part of the 101st Airborne division of the 3rd. Army. Mr. Dew was involved in Draft Horses, was a Duke of Paducah, and was honored as a Kentucky Colonel.
Mr. Dew is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peggy Niestrath Dew; his three daughters, Kathryn Lankton and husband Mark of Reidland, Jane Elizabeth Harned and husband Rock of Reidland and Nancy Carole Garland and husband Tim of Mayfield, KY; his son, Stephen Ray Dew and wife Debbie of Boaz; eleven grandchildren, Heather, Christopher, Justin, Joshua, Jessica, Lauren, Emily, Sarah, Rebecca, Christopher and Nathaniel; and seventeen great-grandchildren, Ella, Evan, Bryleigh, Reagan, Caden, Emma Rose, Cole, Cylas, Crue, Brinley, Emmett, Cameryn, Ayden, Elliott, Paxton, Ryder and Hadley Kate; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter and Edith Mae Byrn Dew; four sisters, Gladys Frazier, Arvena Riley, Allie V. Zavakos and Ovella Draffen; one brother, Dathel Dew; and two grandchildren, Jason and Brittany.
A memorial graveside service will be held at Little Obion Cemetery in Wingo, KY at a later date.
