He was born in 1931, raised in Germany and returned to the U.S. in 1952 where he met and married his wife Waltraut (Trudy) Abramowski in 1953. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Iwa Jima and Okinawa Japan. After returning he worked on building Barkley Dam. Soon after, they owned and operated, Trudy’s Flower Shop in Calvert City until retirement. But continued his hobby of raising orchids. He was a man deeply loved and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Trudy, of Paducah. One son, Ralph Miatkowski of Paducah. One daughter, Rita Laszewski of Paducah. Two brothers, Enrico and Helmut Miatkowski of Germany. And several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kurt Miatkowski and Hedwig Kaffke and one sister during world war II
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday December 17, 2018 at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah. With Rodney Hays officiating. Interment to follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
