Rose Mary (Champy) Stuecker, 88, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018. 

She was born in Paducah, Kentucky and moved to Louisville to attend Nazareth Nursing School where she received her nursing degree in 1952. She moved, with her husband CJ and their children to the Washington, D.C. suburb of Cheverly, Maryland in 1977. They returned to Louisville upon retirement.

Rose Mary worked as a Registered Nurse at Saints Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville for many years. While living in Maryland she worked at Prince Georges County General Hospital, which she retired from in 1991.

Rose Mary was involved in the Cheverly Garden Club and was an active participant in the Jane Austen Society of Louisville. She enjoyed oil and watercolor painting, flower arranging and various crafts. Christmas parties in her beautifully decorated home and where her baking abilities were on display through a stunning variety of candies and cookies, were well attended by both family and friends. Her true love was to be working in her yard planting and tending various flowers across the seasons. She was an avid collector of antiques, and dolls were a particular favorite.

She was a life-long Catholic, growing up in the St. John parish in Paducah, she and her husband were among the founding families of Resurrection Church and were most recently members of St. Therese Church for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her husband CJ (Clemens) of 63 years, daughter Catherine Snodderly, her sister Joan Holt and her parents, Joseph and Anastasia Champy.

She is survived by her brothers, Earl Champy, John Champy and David Champy; sisters, Frances Gooch, Christina Crouch, Mary Lou Cain, Elizabeth Littleton, Audrey Jaramillo, Mary Ann Alexander and Jane Flynn; children, Dennis Stuecker (Gretchen) and Joan Ferch; grandchildren; Constance Kuebbing (Alex), Derek Ferch, Suzy Stuecker and Carleton Stuecker and many brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd.
Visitation will continue Tuesday from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. CST at Milner and Orr Funeral Home, 3745 Old US HWY 45 South, Paducah, KY. 42003.

Her funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. CST Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 6705 Mayfield Rd, Paducah, KY with burial in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery.
