Ronald S. Watts

Ronald Stanley Watts, 79, of Paducah passed away at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center at Lourdes Hospital.  He was born on October 4, 1938, the only child of Harry D. and Mildred Handley Watts of Mayfield.  He was a 1956 graduate of Mayfield High School and served three years with the United States Navy.  Upon discharge, he enrolled at Murray State College where he was a member and officer of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.  After receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree, he taught History, Political Science and coached football at Durrett High School in Louisville.  Ronald taught History and Political Science at Lone Oak High School in McCracken County.  In 1965, he began his career with the State Farm Insurance Claims Division and retired after 35 years of service.

Ronald was a member of Lone Oak United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities including, Methodist Men and the Chancel Choir.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Bertha Jeane Sanderson; three daughters, Laura and husband Kirk Edwards, Libby Purcell, Meg and husband Cort Haynes; two sons, Stan and wife Kristen Watts and Alec Watts. There are eight grandchildren, Eliza, Hadley and Aiden Purcell, Avery and Adeline Edwards, Blake Watts and Cole and Ava Haynes; brother-in-law, Bill Sanderson and wife Mary and nephew, Matt Sanderson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Boone and Rev. Sam Chambers officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home and from 12:00 noon until service time on Sunday.
