Robert L. Higdon, age 85, of Paducah Kentucky, died Friday, March 20, 2015 at Lourdes Hospital.

Bob was born to parents Lucille Roof Higdon and Dr. Orion Leon Higdon on February 28, 1930 in Lexington Kentucky .His spirit is carried on by his wife of 62 years Cleo Smith Higdon;

Bob is also survived by his five children, Elizabeth Adell Higdon (Pete Wenner) of St. Petersburg, FL, Lee Ann Smith Higdon of Conyers, GA, Marta Higdon Arnold (Scott) of Jacksonville, FL, Sarah Patricia Higdon (John Bailey) of Nashville, TN, Stephen Willis Higdon (Allison Schmidt) of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren; three siblings, Velma Bohle-Carlton (Terry Carlton) of Paducah, KY, Marta Higdon Sanders (Charles) of Treasure Island, FL, Orion Leon Higdon, Jr. (Patsy) of Madisonville, KY and a large extended family of relations and friends from all walks of life.

After graduation from St. Mary Academy, he attended Georgetown University and graduated from the University of Arizona. Bob was a  retired Army Major and reservist for 20 years and having served in the Korean War effort. Following retirement, Bob became a volunteer and Eucharistic Minister at Lourdes Hospital sharing prayers, encouragement and support to patients and their families. An active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church he served as a lector, RCIA team member, and Eucharistic Minister. He was a recipient of the diocesan Sophia Award, honoring a life of stewardship, giving of time, talent and treasure. He made a difference in many lives.

We invite you to join with us to celebrate his life on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with a memorial Mass beginning at 12:00 p.m. with Fr. Pat Reynolds officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour of 12:00 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.   A private family burial will take place.
