Robert Paul "Bobby" Martin was born in Cynthiana, Kentucky, on July 25, 1956. His kind and gentle soul was welcomed into his Savior's arms on December 16, 2018. Bobby passed peacefully in his sleep at Southgate Nursing Home in  Metropolis, Illinois.

Bobby faced physical challenges all his life, but persevered with courage and determination. When his body continued to fail him, he faced the challenge of living in a nursing home at age55. Despite this, he greeted visitors, staff and other residents with a big smile and no complaints. Many thanks to the nurses and staff at Southgate for their compassionate  care during his residency.

From a very young age, Bobby loved music. With concerts, vinyl albums and 45s, 8-tracks, cassettes and CDs, he built an encyclopedic knowledge of rock and roll from the 60's to the 80's. He also sang in the choir at Paducah Tilghman and Broadway United Methodist Church, where he was a member his entire life.

In his younger days, Bobby played all sports and always loved to follow his favorite teams; especially Cardinals baseball, Murray State Racers, Kentucky basketball and the Tilghman Tornado. He was manager of the 1973 State Champion PTHS football team. He was a 1975 graduate of Paducah Tilghman and attended Murray State University. Bobby retired after 20 years of service as a data entry clerk at the Kentucky Department of Highways. He was also a Duke of Paducah and a Kentucky Colonel.

Bobby is survived by a devoted group of friends from his school days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Patton Martin and Mary Helen Coker Martin.

A celebration of Bobby's life will be held at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
