Richard Elva Dunn, 99 of Hendersonville, TN passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 at the home of his sister, Ms. Onita Dunn Smith in Hendersonville, TN. Mr. Dunn was born May 8, 1919 in Mullikan, KY. His parents were the late Burse B. and Lora Peck Dunn of Smithland, KY.
He proudly served his country as a bombardier in World War II obtaining the rank of Major USAF. After leaving the Air Force, he moved to Los Angeles, CA where he worked and retired as a surveyor for the City of Los Angeles. He later lived in Pasadena and Thousand Oaks, CA before moving to Hendersonville in 2015. He was a member of the Smithland United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge #138, both in Smithland, KY.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Phyliss and Henrietta; four brothers, Otto Dunn, Osborne Dunn, L.B. Dunn and Burse B. Dunn Jr; two nephews, M.O. Dunn of Garland, TX and Wilford Dunn of Smithland, KY; one niece, Ms. Theresa Smith Davis of Nashville and one great niece, Teresa Smith Ramsey of Gallatin, TN.
He is survived by his sister, Onita Smith of Hendersonville, TN; three nephews, Larry Smith of Bartlesville, OK, Richard Smith of Hendersonville, TN and Lynn Dunn of Lenoir City, TN; two nieces, Tami Dunlevy of Paducah, KY and Debbi Noland of Kevil, KY along with several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial services will be Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Smithland Cemetery in Smithland, KY with Rev. Jason Logsdon officiating. There will be no visitation. Milner & Orr Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
