Phyllis Cecil Elbon of Paducah was called home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2018. She was 86. Mrs. Elbon was born on April 27, 1931 in Middletown, Ohio to the late Arthur Franklin Cecil, Sr. and Anna Dehart Cecil. She was a follower of Christ and longtime member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church. She retired from the Kentucky State Employment Service, taught elementary school in Ohio, and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

While she had multiple professions, her labor of love was caring for her family, which included raising six children and being a loving wife to her late husband Junior Arlington Elbon. Phyllis loved to cook, sew, and garden. “Mamaw and Papaw” were the gracious hosts of countless family gatherings. She was active in Sunday School, the LOFBC Notes of Joy senior adult choir, the Paducah Community Chorus, the African Violet Society, and Lone Oak Women’s Club. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1949 and The Ohio State University in 1952, and was an avid fan of the Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. She had a life-long love of music, especially the opera.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Elbon was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Franklin Cecil, Jr. She is survived by six children: David Elbon of Lexington, Kentucky, Margie (Mike) Williams of Paducah, Dan Elbon of Paducah, Andy (Mary Jo Steinkamp) Elbon of Nashville, Tennessee, Patty Harrison of Paducah, and Amy (Keith) Griesser of Georgetown, Kentucky; and 17 grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Megan Williams (Alan) Redditt of Georgetown, Kentucky; Jay Williams of Louisville, Kentucky; Danielle Hubbard of Athens, Georgia; Anna (Matt Whyatt) Elbon of Dixon, Montana; Blake Harrison of Owensboro, Kentucky; Drew (Grace) Harrison of Paducah; Mia, Rachel, Claire, and Joseph Elbon, all of Nashville, Tennessee; Emily, Luke, Grant, and Adam Griesser, Brooks Redditt and Pryse Redditt, all of Georgetown; and Cali Williams of Louisville, Kentucky.
