Paul Edward Corzine, 92 of Metropolis, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Baptist Health Paducah.  He was born in Karnak, IL, in 1923 to Adam Douglas and Hattie Porter Corzine.

He graduated from high school in 1941 and was inducted into the Army’s 292nd Combat Engineers Division in December 1943. Paul spent twenty months in Europe and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in May 1946. Upon his return, he continued to serve in the reserves until 1949 while attending Draughons Business College in Paducah; he graduated with an associate degree in accounting and business administration. He retired from Electric Energy Inc. in 1988 after 38 years of service.

On April 28, 1950 Paul married Lydia Childers. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary and have dedicated their lives to their church and community. They have two daughters, Sophfonda Harrison and husband Steve of Metropolis, and Devonda Treece and husband Randy of Paducah; Paul’s five cherished grandchildren, Samuel Harrison of Franklin, TN, Natalie Treece, Elliot Treece and wife Stacey of Paducah, Tifanie Treece of Elizabethtown, KY, and Savanah Treece of Louisville, KY; also a nephew, Ron Corzine of Morton, IL, and niece, Phyllis Pollard and husband Rev. Don Pollard of Owensboro, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Adam Ray Corzine and wife Eunice and James Douglas Corzine and wife Orphia; one nephew, James Corzine, Jr. and his step-father, Eugene Palmer.

Paul and Lydia owned and operated the Egyptian Trail Restaurant in Metropolis for 42 years. They were well known for their delicious donuts, homemade bread and pies, and especially their generosity. Together they had a strong dedication to the community; Paul was President of the Massa County PTA, Precinct Committeeman, and has belonged to Gideons International for many years. He was also an active member of Lighthouse Assembly of God church where he served in numerous capacities; his true passion being his role as church treasurer.

Help Paul’s family celebrate his life Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Lighthouse Assembly of God, 670 Airport Road in Metropolis. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Russell and Rev. Don LaBrot officiating. Burial will follow in the Seven Mile Baptist Church Cemetery.
