Mary Ethel Baker, 87, of Reidland, went home to be with her LORD on the morning of Monday, July 17, 2017.

 

Born in McCracken County on January 19, 1930 to Clyde & Effie Threatt. Mary married Charles Ray Baker on June 18, 1947, they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. She worked and retired from Sears.

 

Mary was an active member of Gospel Mission, lifelong Christian Servant, Mary worked tirelessly in many areas of the church. Her strong alto voice rang out in the Church Choir for many years. Most recently she served in the Women’s Auxiliary and as a member of the Bereavement Committee at Gospel Mission.

 

To know her was to love her. She was a loving example to Proverbs 31, A virtuous woman. Her sweet spirit and enormous laugh left a lasting impression to all who came in contact with her.

 

Mary is survived by her husband, Charles Ray Baker of Reidland; one son, Charles Rodney Baker (Kathy) of West Paducah; one daughter, Suzan Renee Harrington (Robert) of Palma; one brother, Bobby Lee Threatt of Paducah; five grandchildren, Jennifer Heady, Matthew Baker, Rachel Foley, Hope Winstead, Ryan Winstead; six great grandchildren.

 

Mary loved her children and had the greatest love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Effie Threatt.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at Gospel Mission Worship Center on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 with Rev. Jim Wright and Rev. Jim Greenwell officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah. A second visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to funeral service time on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Gospel Mission.
