Marjorie Saxton Payne, age 82, of Mayfield, KY passed away, Thursday, August 1, 2019, 8:30 a.m., at the Spring Creek Nursing Home in Murray, KY.
Marjorie was a member of the former Silver Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Arlington. She served on the Mother’s Board, the culinary committee, sang in the church choir, and was a member of the Green Valley District Women in White.
Marjorie retired as a cook from Fern Terrace Nursing Home.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary E. Stubblefield of Almo, KY; Sandra Lovelace, Earline Saxton, and Karen Saxton, all of Mayfield, KY; three sons, Charles Saxton of Tupelo, MS, Gary Saxton of Mayfield, KY and John Saxton of Paducah, KY; twenty eight grandchildren; thirty six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ben Saxton of Mayfield, KY and Bert A. Saxton of Los Angeles, CA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert Alexander Saxton and Nettie Sheard Saxton , a daughter Rita Saxton and two sons Howard Keith Payne, Jr., and Julius A. Payne; four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2019, 1:00 p.m., at Fairview Baptist Church in Mayfield. Reverend Franklin Stone will officiate. Burial will follow in Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Mayfield.
Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
