Louise Hughes Gibson, 99, of Paducah, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Louise was born in McCracken County, KY on March 11, 1919 to Vernice M. “Punch” and Elsie Cathey Hughes, who were the original founders of Hughes Market . She was a lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church. She enjoyed visiting Highpoint Pentecostal Church with her granddaughter and her family. Louise’s favorite pastimes were listening to gospel music, tending her garden and putting up vegetables, quilting, and growing beautiful roses.
She is survived by her dedicated and loving family; daughter-in-law, Barbara Sholar Bogard of West Paducah; granddaughter, Deana Bogard (Andrew) Rather of Paducah; great-grandson, Joshua Andrew Rather; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Willard Gibson; sons, Shelby Dean Bogard and Kimble W. Gibson; siblings, Ruth Hughes Hendricks and Robert Louis Hughes; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Monday, October 1, 2018 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Revs. Andy Shelton and Doug Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11am Monday at the funeral home.
