Linda Long, 87, of Kevil, Kentucky passed away at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Life Care Center of LaCenter. She was born January 1, 1932 in McCracken County, Kentucky. Graduated from Heath High School in 1949 and from Murray State University in 1953 where she received her Master’s Degree and she also had her Rank One Certificate. Linda taught at Heath Schools for 32 years retiring in 1985. She was a member of the National Education Association, Kentucky Education Association and a 43 year member of the Omega Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma. Linda kept the scorebooks for basketball games at Heath High School for many years and was named to the Heath School Hall of Fame in 2016. She was a former member of the Citizens Board of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.
Linda was a lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church where she served as church organist for many years. She enjoyed traveling, taking care of cats and reading.
She is survived by many cousins.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, William Ernest Long and Elizabeth Anderson Long.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Jewell Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at McKendree United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the church.
