Larry Wrye, 71, of Metropolis, IL., passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14th, 2018 at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, IL., after a long, hard fought battle with lung disease.
He was born on December 17th, 1946 in Metropolis, the son of Alfred and Anna Moore Wrye. He married the former Audrey Faye Cochran on May 24th, 1969. They enjoyed 48 years together.
Larry retired from CSI (Computer Services Inc.) in 2012 after 23 years with the Paducah KY. based company. He graduated from Clifton Central High School in Clifton, IL. in 1964 and later received and Associate degree from Shawnee Community College in Ullin, IL. An avid hunter and fisherman, Larry loved the outdoors and all things connected with nature. Being a loyal Chicago Cubs fan was also his passion and seeing his team win the World Series in 2016 was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Larry was quick witted, a good and loyal friend to many, and loved his family fiercely.
Larry is survived by his wife, Audrey; one son, Eric (Cheryl) Wrye; three daughters, LaWanda Wrye, Paula (Bill) Naas, and Kathy (Geoff) Booker; six siblings, Barbara Robinson, Verna Mayo, Sharon Martin, Ronald Wrye, Allen Wrye, and Donald Wrye; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may visit the family on Sunday evening, January 21st, 2018 at Lindsey Funeral Home from 5pm until 7:30 pm. Funeral services will start at 7:30pm immediately following visitation with Rev. Jack Russell officiating.
