Lalah Mae Thompson Crowell Williams Kaler

Lalah Mae (Thompson) Crowell Williams Kaler, believer and follower of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.  Mae was born on April 4, 1917 in Graves County, KY to Glener and Bruce Thompson. She grew up around Thompson's Shop in Graves County and Rosebower Church in Reidland.

In June of 1933, she and Thomas Edward Crowell, took a ferry to Metropolis, IL and were married. She became a pastor's wife, was a homemaker, and worked at the shirt factory.  They had three children, Charles Edward, Linda Sue, and Terry Bruce.  She taught Sunday School in various churches where Edward pastored.  She loved to fish, sew, and grow flowers.  Roses were her favorite.  She loved watching birds, especially cardinals.  She was an excellent cook, and always said that, "Bacon grease makes everything tastes better."  She had a lead foot and never had a speeding ticket.  She loved the Lord with all her heart and served him until her final breath. She was a member of Rosebower Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children: Charles Crowell (Eloise), of Symsonia, KY, Linda Cain of McCormick, SC, and Terry Bruce of Paducah; her sister, Marie Thompson of Reidland; eight grandchildren, Rusty Cain of McCormick, SC, Randy Cain of Monroe, Michigan, Greg (Athea) Cain of Lula, Georgia, David (Sidney) Crowell, Tracy (Micheal) Wallace, Chip (Lisa) Crowell, Susanna (Bryan) Perriello, all of Paducah, Kristie (Lawrence) Smith of Austin, TX; 21 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Thomas Edward, after 30 years of marriage, her second husband, Sandy Williams, after two years of marriage, and her third husband, William (Bill) Kaler, after 33 years of marriage; her brothers, Lexie Thompson, Luke Thompson of Graves County, and Tommy D. Thompson of Owensboro, KY; her sister, Pauline Thompson Hall of Lone Oak; two daughter-in-laws, Jackie Crowell and Lynn Crowell; one son-in-law, Russell Cain, great-grandson Curtis Cain.

The Kaler/Crowell family would like to extend a very special thank you to Mae's caregivers: Charlene, Becky, Sandra, and Holly.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 20, 2018, at 2:00 pm at Rosebower Baptist Church, 1120 Tyree Road, Paducah. Visitation will begin at 12:00.  Reverend Justin Mason and Brother Kenneth Puckett will be officiating.  Burial will be at Rosebower Cemetery in Reidland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Families on the Autism Spectrum @ 855 E. 5th St. Calvert City, KY 42029.
