Kevin Dwight “Bubba” Gourley, 51, of The Barkley Center of Paducah, formerly of Cunningham, KY, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 10, 2018 at 8:30 am from the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Otha and Elsie Reasons Gourley and Retus and Christelle Dick Cash; and cousin, Chad Gourley.

Although Kevin could not walk or talk, he had a profound effect on everyone who knew and loved him.  He usually had a smile on his face that would light up a room and a sparkle in his eyes like the stars.  He loved going to church and traveling.

In his younger years, he went to the Easter Seals Center and J.U. Kevil Center.

Funeral services for Kevin will be held at 11am Sunday at Mt. Olivet Church in Lowes, KY with Brother Tim Ivey officiating.  Burial will follow at Owens Chapel Cemetery.

Heaven’s Very Special Child

A meeting was held quite far from earth

It’s time again for another birth

Said the Angels to the Lord above

This Special Child will need much love

His progress may be very slow

Accomplishment he may not show

And he’ll require extra care

From the folks he meets down there

He may not run or laugh or play;

His thoughts may seem quite far away,

In many ways he won’t adapt

And he’ll be known as handicapped

So let’s be careful where he’s sent,

We want his life to be content,

Please Lord find the parents

Who will do a special job for you

They will not realize right away

The leading role they’re asked to play.

But with this child sent from above

Comes stronger faith and a richer love

And they’ll know the privilege given

In caring for their gift from heaven,

Their precious charge, so meek and mild

Is Heaven’s Very Special Child.
