John Louis Neal, 98, of Paducah, died Sunday, February 7, 2016, 11:40 am, at Superior Care Home of Paducah.
He was a member of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church and a retired veteran of the US Army, serving during WW II. He received his Associate’s Degree in Accounting and Business Administration and was formerly employed as a security guard for the Defense Navigation Agency of St. Louis, MO. He was also a civil service and the Trea Enlisted Association, a member of Illkinois’ American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts, a member of the 92nd Infantry All Black Unit and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Lee McCoy Neal of Washington, DC; a daughter, Lynda White of Paducah; five grandsons; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Armstrong of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Neal and Viola Jane Simpson Neal; his son, Michael L. Neal; one brother and one sister.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 13, 2016, 12:00 noon at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie White officiating. Burial will follow Tuesday, February 16, 2016, 11:30 am, at Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City, IL.
Friends may also call at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 am until the funeral hour.
