Jean O’Daniel Kelley, age 90, of Paducah, passed away surrounded by her family at 4:14 a.m. on Tuesday, July 03, 2018 at Baptist Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Mrs. Kelley was born in Sharon, TN, April 7, 1928, to John Wesley and Lillie Newbill O’Daniel.  Being a product of the South, Jean particularly enjoyed relating the story of traveling to Memphis, TN as the Kenton High School representative and taking “runner-up” honors in the annual Mid-South Spelling Bee as an eighth grader.

Jean, a faithful member of First Baptist Church Paducah where she was actively involved in Womens’ Missions as a member of the Bea Walker Round Table, also enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and singing in the choir.

In the early 1970’s, Jean owned and operated Paducah Greeting Service, welcoming newcomers to Paducah.  An avid gardener and prolific grower of flowers, she shared this expertise and passion with others, as a member of the Dogwood Garden Club.  Jean was always a gracious hostess and made her home a welcoming gathering place.  Friends and neighbors could often be found pulling up a chair for a cup of coffee or joining the family for her delicious fried chicken!

Jean is survived by four children, Sharron K. Cashion (Bill) of Louisville, KY, Joe T. Kelley, Jr. of Collierville, TN, Amy K. Ransdell (Michael) of Louisville, KY, Timothy O. Kelley, (Melissa) of Nashville, TN, her eight grandchildren; Kimberly, Leah, Ryan, Camille, Kevin, Tiffany, Daniel, and Brandon, and five great-grandchildren; Collette, Jeremiah, Jacob, Caroline and Lily Mae.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joe T. Kelley; her parents; and siblings; Francis Caldwell, John O’Daniel, and June VanArsdall.
