Jean Galvin, 88, of Paducah, KY passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center. Jean was an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She was a graduate of St. Mary Academy and received an associate degree from Nazareth College in Bardstown, KY. Jean worked in retail sales as clerk at Voor’s Package store and Payless Drug Store. For some 15 years she and her sisters, Mary and Pat, served funeral reception dinners at St. Thomas More Church. All three sisters received the Sophia Award for this volunteer service. Among the things she enjoyed most were serving her church, entertaining little children, gardening and walking. She also had quite a collection of Demitasse cups. As a hobby with her sisters, Pat and Mary, made beautiful needlepoint Christmas ornaments for each family member , they did this for twenty years, giving the family a wonderful collection to treasure.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Galvin of Paducah, KY; one brother, John Galvin and wife, Maureen of Madison, IN; Several neices and nephews.
Preceding in death were her parents, James Leslie and Agnes F. Flynn Galvin, one sister, Pat Galvin and one brother, Thomas Galvin.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Brad Whistle officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mr. Carmel Cemetery.
