James Edward Jackson, Sr., age 97, of Paducah, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018, 7:40 a.m., at his residence.
James was a 70-year member of Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served on the finance committee, was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir and the Brotherhood.
James was a journeyman electrician and was the owner and operator of Jackson Electric Company. He was also a retiree of the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad Company and a World War II veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldeane Jackson; his parents, Johnnie Jackson and Gertrude Caldwell Jackson; one son, James Jackson, Jr.; one brother and two grand-daughters.
He is survived by three daughters, Jackie B. Pipes, Houston, TX, Pauline Flowers, Paducah, KY and Doris Sutton, Hayti, MO; one son, John Richardson, Paducah, KY; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 14, 2018, 12:00 Noon, at Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with Reverend Benessa Perkins- Sweat officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
