Hayvert “Sonny” Sutton, 78, of Paducah, KY, passed away at his home at 2:50 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2014.
“Sonny” was born in McCracken County on February 6, 1936 to Darnell and Emma Sutton. He served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a welder in the maintenance department at Lockheed Martin where he retired after 18 years. He enjoyed raising cacti and flowers, and was an avid gardener. He and his wife Catherine spent time together traveling throughout the United States and during his lifetime he visited all 50 states.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catherine Scheer Sutton, of Paducah, KY; his son, Tommy Sutton and wife Teresa, of Benton, KY; four grandchildren, Luke, Matt, Jessie and Blake; three great grandchildren, Brandon, Hailey and Koby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darnell Sutton and Emma Green Sutton; and one sister.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. Rev. Brian Roby will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 17, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Paducah Milner & Orr Funeral Home. Prayers will be held at 7:30 pm.
