Glenda Ann Sullivan, 77, of Metropolis, died peacefully in her
daughter’s home in Sherwood, AR on Wednesday, September 18, 2019.
Glenda was born and raised in Metropolis, IL. She graduated
from Metropolis High School in 1960. Over the years, she along with her
husband, Floyd, owned several businesses which included an upholstery shop,
Victorian Rose Gift Shop, Northside market, and Friends and Company Flea
Market. She was an active member of the community participating in
numerous organizations such as New Frontiers homemakers, Historical society,
Garden Club, Save the Massac, and was a founding member of the Project Hope
animal shelter. Her wish was to leave this world in a much better place.
She was married to her high school sweetheart for over 60 years.
One of their favorite things to do together was take road trips all over the
continental United States, but she particularly enjoyed traveling throughout
the state of Arizona. While traveling, they loved to frequent flea
markets, antique shops, and explore nature’s most beautiful landscapes.
Glenda and Floyd raised two children; Jeffrey Allen Sullivan
(Fonda) and Stacy Lynn Sullivan (J. Kevin Sullivan). Glenda’s
grandchildren include Jeffrey Alan Sullivan (Mary), Jennifer May (Travis),
Meagan Edwards (David), Tracy Logan (Jason), and Racan Aqrabawi (Kellie). She
also has 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy “Butch” Barger and
Grace Barger.
Visitation is being held from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Wednesday,
September 25, 2019 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah. Graveside
services will immediately follow at Antioch Baptist Church in Rosebud, IL.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s
Association or to the Project Hope Animal Shelter.
