Gary Stephen Hunt, 72, of Paducah, passed away on November 21, 2018 at his home.  Gary was born in Paducah, KY on August 23, 1946 to Willie L. Hunt, Jr. and Martha Grimm Hunt.

Gary developed a love of the arts at an early age.  A student at Paducah Tilghman High School, he was actively involved in numerous clubs and organizations.  After graduating in 1964, he went on to Murray State University and honed his skills as an artist, obtaining a BFA degree.  Before graduating from MSU in 1972, Gary served in the United States Army, which included a tour to Vietnam.

In 1972, Gary moved to Texas to start a family and to further his career as an artist.  He worked for two of the top design firms in Dallas and later became a freelance artist specializing in 2&3 Dimensional Design.

A talented and brilliant creator, Gary’s interests and passions included music, films, world history, photography, creating and collecting masks, building and acquiring robots, graphic arts, sculpture, and antiquities.  Given his diverse skill set, he was known as the person who could fix anything.

He is survived by two daughters, Corbin Hunt Baxter and spouse David of Carrollton, TX and Robin Bush Hunt Sproba and spouse Mike of Willis, TX; granddaughters, Mackenzie and Macy Sproba; his former wife and mother of Robin and Corbin, Carol “Micki” Hunt of Arlington, TX; sister, Melanie Hunt Alexander of Paducah; niece and nephew, Heather and Shannon Alexander; great nephew and niece, Anthony and Abigail, and a large extended family that includes cousins Lynn and Randy Hodges, who were as close as siblings.  His parents precede him in death.

An art exhibit featuring his life’s work as an artist will be held in the spring or summer of 2019.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s honor can be made to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans: www.nchv.org.
