Paducah Ky | Jul. 14, 1941 | Jan. 14, 2019

Freddie Harold Moran, 77, “got his wings” left this life and entered the portals of heaven at 4:57 am on January 14, 2019.  He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Linda Teitloff Moran.

He was a retired US Mail contractor with two mail routes.  After his retirement, he was employed at Roth, Lindsey and Milner & Orr Funeral Homes.  His relaxed personality and sense of humor contributed to his being a wonderful greeter at those places.

Mr. Moran graduated from Livingston Central High School in 1961.  He attended Georgetown Baptist College in Georgetown, KY where he played basketball.  He was an outstanding basketball and baseball player.  His name had notoriety in the surrounding communities which continued until his death.  He was offered and declined a baseball contract with the Detroit Tigers.

He was saved as a teenager while attending a revival at Cave Spring Missionary Baptist Church.  He was baptized in the Ohio River.

Freddie was a member of Southland Baptist Temple for 55 years.  He and his wife were close friends with the founding pastor, Bro. Harold Council, his wife, Sue, and their family.

In addition to being survived by his wife, Linda, he was the father of Letitia Harris (Dr. Steven Harris) and Stacey Moran of Paducah and Terika Kemp (Keith) of Owensboro, KY.  He was the proud “PaPaw” of Zachary Steven Harris (Megan) of Nashville, TN, Eli Moran Harris (Kelsey) of Paducah and Lillian Grace Kemp of Owensboro.

Mr. Moran was born in Marion, KY and reared in Detroit, MI, Marion and Salem, KY.  He was born to J.V. Moran and Lillian Francis Oakley on July 14, 1941.  He was preceded in death by his parents and an only brother, Teddy Wayne Moran.

Since Mr. Moran had survived diabetes for 40 years, and to further medical education and research, his body has been donated to the Genesis Legacy Foundation.

Services for Mr. Moran will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Southland Baptist Temple.  Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 pm followed by a memorial service with Rev. Larry Spears and Rev. Jimmy Franks officiating

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation of your choice be made to: The Gideons International, P.O. Box 10, Kevil, KY 42053, The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 133 Evergreen Road, Louisville, KY 40243 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice Care Center for their compassionate and dedicated care.
