Frances “Sam” Dycus Murphy, age 94, of Auburn, Kentucky, previously of Paducah, passed away on August 22, 2019 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. 

 

Frances was born in Kuttawa, Kentucky on February 6, 1925 to the late Thomas and Polly Dycus.  She was a member of Heartland Church in Paducah and The Order of the Eastern Star.  Frances loved her family hard, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She can also be remembered tirelessly working to help others, no matter that work involved.  Frances was also a diehard University of Kentucky basketball fan.  When she wasn’t cheering for her beloved Cats, she enjoyed spending time reading and bowling. 

 

Frances is survived by one daughter, Molly Tinch of Auburn, Kentucky; one son, Ryan Murphy and wife, Janice of Casa Grande, Arizona; “adopted daughter”, Kathy Brown of Auburn, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Murphy; her parents, Thomas and Polly Dycus; one sister, Polly Reinhard; seven brothers, Eddie Dycus, Charlie Dycus, Jim Dycus, Tom Dycus, O.R. Dycus, Bill Dycus and “Heine” Dycus.

 

Graveside services for Frances will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah with Rev. Jim Boyd officiating.

 

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.

 

The family has asked that donations be made in Frances’ name to the Hospice or NICU unit of your choice.
