Elizabeth Carneal Hook, 106, of Paducah, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Superior Care Home.
Elizabeth was born in McCracken County on June 30, 1912 to Jesse D. Carneal, Sr. and Cora Elizabeth McGee Carneal. She graduated from Heath High School in 1929. As a longtime member of First Baptist Church, she was their oldest living member and was dedicated to Homebound Ministries during her active years. She had been employed at International Shoe Company and Paducah Independent School System as a cafeteria manager. Her late husband, Hailey Hook, served as Paducah City Commissioner for many years. Because of both of their important work and support of this community, they were awarded Kentucky Colonel and Duke and Duchess of Paducah. Her favorite pastimes were supporting UK basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
She treasured the family she leaves behind; her son, Lee (Ruth Ann) Hook of Paducah; grandchildren, Ashley Hook of Memphis, Leann Kersey of Nashville, Ryan Hook of Paducah, Christopher Hook of Lexington, and Jason Hook of Louisville; five great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Lack Hook.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Hailey Lee Hook, Sr.; son, Craig Carneal Hook; and siblings, Ruby Carneal Anderson and Jesse Carneal, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Tommy Tucker officiating. Private burial will be held at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 1pm Saturday at the funeral home.
