E.R. Murphey passed out of death into life with hid LORD and SAVIOR Jesus Christ at 1:28 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Southgate Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

 

He made it his ambition to lead a quiet life, attended to his own business and worked diligently with his own hands, just as he was commanded.  1 Thessalonians 4:11.

 

Mr. Murphey was a member of Olivet Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, he was a World War II veteran and retiree of USEC after 32 years of service.  Before and during retirement (Murph) enjoyed fishing, gardening and being an all around handy man for both his family and his church.  He was a faithful Red Cross blood donator and a bell ringer for the Salvation Army at Christmas.

 

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.  Proverbs 13:22.

 

Mr. Murphey is survived by his wife, Doris C. Murphey of 69 years (married Dec. 2, 1944 in Whitegate, County of Chester, England). 

 

Also surviving are his children and their families; Bob Murphey (Carolyn), Robin and Ryan; Gayle Rufli (John) Michael, Matthew (Sara), Isabella and Alexander; Debbie Henderson (David), Brian Graham (Abby), Devada McKenty and Destiny; Brenda Eller, Craig (Sarah) and Christina.

 

Mr. Murphey was preceded in death by his parents James Thomas & Lennie C. Putman Murphey; one son, Russell Lee Murphey; one brother and seven sisters.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Tommy Tucker officiating. A private family Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton, KY.

 

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour of 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August  31, 2014 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
