W. Winston Barnard, M.D., age 95, died Wednesday morning, March 28, 2018, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Mississippi, he served in the United States Army in India during World War II.   Dr. Barnard graduated from Ole Miss and received his MD from the University of Tennessee at Memphis.  He practiced general medicine and surgery for over a decade in his hometown of Clarksdale, Mississippi, then took his psychiatric training at Indiana University.  He practiced psychiatric medicine for over 40 years, the last 30 here in Paducah, until his retirement in 2007. Many will remember seeing “Wink” riding his motorcycle to Lourdes Hospital or his office in the Century Building.

Dr. Barnard leaves behind his wife Dorothy; four children: Jeanne, Bill, Sue and Joe; and three step-children: Megan, Saylor, and Randy. He was also blessed with six grandchildren, Erin, Megan, Carlynn, Daniel, Melanie, and Zachary; two step-grandchildren, Chloe and Lily; and his great-grandchild Grace. He will be missed by his good buddy, Beau kitty.

There will be no services; his ashes will be scattered in his beloved Mississippi River.  We ask that everyone remember Wink and honor him with a silent prayer for all the good he did in the lives he touched.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Broadway United Methodist Church Choir, 701 Broadway, Paducah, KY  42001, where Wink sang for over 30 years.
