Dorothy Lewis

Dorothy (Donaldson) Lewis, 104, of Paducah passed away at 6:55 pm on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.



Mrs. Lewis retired after 40 years of Teaching First Grade, she was a member of Brazil Methodist Church in Brazil, TN and attended Twelve Oaks Baptist Church in Paducah. She rode horses, worked on the farm and played basketball, receiving awards such as all-county. She went on to play college basketball at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, where she met a fellow athlete, Fred Lewis whom she would marry. She taught first grade for forty years, retiring to travel and enjoy her family.



She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Lewis) Knott and husband Jimmy of Orlando, FL; six grandchildren, Jim (Rene) Futrell, Kirk Futrell, Kimberlee Fritz, Stephanie (Randy) Cook, Jonathan Knott, Justin (Kelley) Knott; one granddaughter-in-law, Lorena Knott; six great-grandchildren, Tyler McArdle, James Cook, Alyssa Knott, Josie Futrell, Wyatt Futrell, Taylor Fritz.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wilson Lewis; son, Fred Donaldson Lewis; daughter, Margaret Lane Anthony; one grandson, Jeremy Knott; parents, Albert Jackson Donaldson and Margaret (Dew) Lane.



Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Twelve Oaks Baptist Church in Paducah with Pastor Brandt Lyon and Jimmy Knott officiating. Graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm at Zion Cemetery in Brazil, TN on Saturday.



Visitation will be held at 9:00 am to service time on Saturday at Twelve Oaks Baptist Church.
