Doris Fay Hendrickson was born in Paducah, Kentucky on August 11, 1952 to the late James Scott Hendrickson and Jane Eva (Stein) Hendrickson. Doris passed away at the age of 65 at 10:00 PM on the evening of Sunday, December 31, 2017 at her residence in Owensboro, Kentucky.

 

Doris graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School. Although, Doris did not belong to any organizations, she was a good neighbor and a very well-informed citizen. She loved her family and friends and would do anything for them. Doris was a very caring and compassionate person. In 1995 she started working for Loving Care on the weekends. When that job had ended, she started working for Caretenders. She received her drivers license at the age of 44 and then bought her first car. After several years, Doris went back to school and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She then began working for Owensboro Hospital Home Care until she had to take disability retirement. While she was employed at Owensboro Hospital Home Care, she received the President’s Award. All of these accomplishments provided her with the opportunity to achieve three things from her bucket list; ride on a plane, a train and a cruise ship.

 

She is survived by two brothers, Eddie Hendrickson and wife Rhonda of Reidland, Jimmy Hendrickson of Hopkinsville; one nephew, Scott Hendrickson; two nieces, Tammy Hook and Amber Dripps; several great nieces and nephews, Dylan Hook, Aliyah Hook, Sadie Hendrickson, Samuel Dripps, Emily Hendrickson, Ethan Hendrickson; and she is also survived by her honorary sister, Carolyn Filzer of Owensboro.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Scott Hendrickson and Jane Eva (Stein) Hendrickson; one brother, David Hendrickson; one sister, Kathy Hendrickson.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Jim Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Ford Cemetery in Marshall County.

 

Visitation will be held for friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the funeral home.
