Don Rushing, 76, of Paducah, KY, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 8:20 a.m. at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center. Don was a member of Highland Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a graduate from Lone Oak High School in 1956. He attended Western Kentucky University, was employed by Petter Supply Co. and worked at General Motors in Flint, MI for 37 years. Upon his retirement he moved to Ft. Pierce, FL and back to Paducah in the fall of 2012 to be near family. Don loved to travel, play golf and was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. Don loved entertaining, cooking and being with friends. He took an active part in planning his yearly high school class reunions.
Survivors include four sisters, Martha “Babe” Perry and Betty Rushing both of Paducah, KY, Joyce Guhy of Ft. Pierce, FL, Shirley Myers and husband Willie of Columbia, IL; four brothers, Kenneth Rushing and wife, Elene, Buddy Rushing and wife, Ann, Roy Rushing and wife Sharon, and Bob Rushing all of Paducah, KY ; two brothers-in-law, J. L. Metcalf, Paducah, KY and Ed Schnittger of FL; one sister-in-law, Jeanel Rushing of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death was parents James L. “Jim” Rushing & Cora Lee Legate Rushing; four sisters, Ann Boatwright, Rebecca Metcalf, Allie ‘Dink” Jones and Margie Schnittger; two brothers, Jimmy Rushing and Billy Rushing.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Revs. Allie Rudolph & Brent Ballow officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday, April, 22, 2014 from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
