Dean Devine Akin, 74, of Paducah, died Friday, March 20, 2015 at Lourdes Hospital.
Dean was born in Calvert City, KY on September 26, 1940 to the late Samuel Clete Devine and Hester Butler Devine. She was a graduate of North Marshall High School. Dean was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church.
Taking care of her family was her greatest joy in life. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Dan H. Akin; two daughters, Leigh Ann Monroe and husband Eric of Columbia, S.C.; and Beth Akin of Paducah; she was known as “Meme” by her grandchildren that she loved so much, Erica Leigh Monroe, Ryan Dean Monroe, William Payne Sykes, and Clay Michael Sykes; three sisters, Patsy Satterfield of Gilbertsville, KY, Ann Irwin of Clarksville, TN and Joyce Grote of Lawrenceburg, KY; brother, Sam Devine of Frankfort, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Ben Devine; and her parents.
Memorial services will be held at 3pm Sunday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Revs. Joe Beal and John Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Wingo Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1pm Sunday at the funeral home.
