David Brooks "Buzz" Hammond

David Brooks Hammond, known to one and all as “Buzz”, departed his life’s journey unexpectedly on Friday, July 18, 2014 at age 61, of an apparent heart attack.

Raised in Greenville, Mississippi, Buzz was born on November 16, 1952; the second son of Lee Bell Hammond, Sr. and Frances Hammond. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1971 and attended Delta State University.  He moved to Paducah, Kentucky in 1979.

Buzz started his career in the Marine Survey Industry until his retirement.  He dearly loved his family and friends.  He had a keen eye for decorating, cooking was a passion of his with specialty dishes, and he enjoyed carpentry work.

Buzz is survived by his brother Lee Bell Hammond, Jr. (Angie) of Midlothian, Texas; three nephews: Trey Hammond (Tressa) of Byram, Mississippi, Miller Hammond (Becky) of Tom Bean, Texas, and Walt Hammond (Brittany) of Bryan, Texas; and three great-nephews and five great-nieces.   Also left to mourn his passing is a former wife and good friend, Mary Armstrong Hammond of Paducah, Kentucky and a host of friends.  He was preceded in death by his father Lee Bell Hammond, Sr. and his mother Frances Hammond.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 am Friday, July 25, 2014 at Grace Episcopal Church and will be officiated by Rev. George A. Jaeger and his beloved nephews, Trey, Miller and Walt, each of whom are pastors.  Burial will follow in the Grace Episcopal Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will begin at 10am Friday at the church.
