West Paducah, Ky. | Jul. 31, 1939 | Nov. 13, 2019

Danny Lane Puckett was born July 31, 1939, to Lillard Lane Puckett and Virginia Parker Puckett. He went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior at 12:35 P.M. Wednesday, November 13, 2019, with his wife and family by his side after a long battle with cancer and Parkinson’s  Disease.

Remembering Danny with abundant love are his wife of 59 years, Dorthy Duncan Puckett; his beloved daughters, Larenda Hall (Paducah, KY) and Gayla Creasey (Knoxville, TN); special sons-in-law, Brad Hall (Paducah) and Scott Creasey (Knoxville); cherished granddaughter, Brooke Creasey (Knoxville); and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, uncle (Mack Parker) and four special aunts (Aline Parker Miller, Modena Parker Herrold, Estelle Parker Gregory Swenson, and Jewel Parker Lanier) with whom he shared a close bond.

He was born and raised in the Heath Community of West Paducah. He graduated from Dorian’s Private School of Paducah in 1956. In more recent years, he attended worship services at Massac United Methodist Church.

Danny fondly remembered his jobs as a young boy beginning with selling newspapers to the construction workforce in the early 1950s at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant at age 12, and working at the Grahamville gas & food market at age 15.

He spent the majority of his adult working career performing preventive and corrective maintenance in the manufacturing and chemical processing industries in Western Kentucky. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and the United Steel Workers. He retired in 2002 from Westlake PVC, Calvert City.

Danny was an avid sports fan, always following the Kentucky Wildcats and the St. Louis Cardinals. His passion was playing and coaching sports, and organizing sports leagues. He played men’s competitive softball well into his 50s, and he enjoyed the close relationships with the “brothers” he made during that time, even in his final days. Also providing him great joy, were the several spring seasons he spent coaching his daughters’ softball teams.

Funeral services for Danny are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Officiating the service is his dear friend and counselor, Brother John Smithmier. Burial will follow the funeral service at McKendree United Methodist Church Cemetery of Kevil.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Massac United Methodist Church, 2605 Mayfield Metropolis Rd., Paducah, KY 42001.
