Carol Gardner Baugh, age 84, died Wednesday October 18, 2017 at Brookdale-Clarksville in Clarksville, TN.
Carol is survived by husband William Baugh of Paducah, son Delbert Reed Rushing of Hopkinsville, KY, daughter Virginia Walton of Swannanoa, NC, sister Ellen Hamilton of Prospect, KY, stepchildren Lawrence Baugh of Nashville, TN, Andrew Baugh of Huntsville, AL, Eleanor Rednour of Metropolis, IL, Paul Baugh, of Charlotte, NC, 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edd and Lorena Gardner, her brother, Edd Gardner Jr., and her sisters, Doris Gardner, Martha Jones and Sue Nell Sullivan, of Paducah.
Carol was valedictorian of her Reidland High School graduating class and continued to be involved with her class activities throughout her life. She put her warm personality and natural interpersonal skills to good use in her professional life. She worked for County Judge Pelham McMurray, was office manager for Max Ladt at Leco Engineering, was executive secretary for Heublein Spirits Group in Paducah, and was personnel coordinator for Digital Equipment Corporation in Memphis TN. Carol lived in Memphis with her husband for sixteen years, returning to Paducah in March 1996. While in Memphis she was a member of the Catholic Church of The Holy Spirit and was recognized for her many years of leadership, inspiration and dedication to RCIA. After retirement, Carol continued to serve her community. She delivered meals for Martha’s Vineyard (the longest running volunteer), was a member at St. Thomas More Catholic Church choir, and became a Master Gardener in the first University of Kentucky Purchase Area Master Gardener class. Carol was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was loved by many in return and will be missed by all who knew her.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. Brad Whistle officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah.
Burial will be held at a later date at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
