Billy G. Phillips, 84, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on April 27, 2016 at Park View Nursing Home and rehabilitation center.  
Phillips was a Korean War Veteran, having served in the Navy on the aircraft carrier Bon Homme Richard.  After his Navy service, Phillips joined the Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant after twenty years.  He then worked for the finance department at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, as a civil service employee and retired in 1994.  
Phillips was active in the Huntsville community, having served on the board of directors for the National Children’s Advocacy Center in Huntsville, AL.  He also served as a Guardian Ad Litem and trained volunteers to work for Crisis Services of North Alabama, where he received numerous awards for his commitment and service. 
Phillips was involved in the Senior Friends program in Huntsville and was a regular actor in plays produced by the Huntsville Little Theatre.  He also had a supporting role in Disney’s movie “Space Camp” as the pilot and father of actress Leah Thompson.  
Phillips was a long time member of the Church of Christ, having attended both the Twickenham and Mayfair Churches of Christ in Huntsville.  In his last years he was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ in Paducah, KY and was active in the Senior Seekers group there.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Warren and Carrie Louise Phillips, two brothers, and two sisters. 
He is survived by his younger sister, Nancy Salopek of Decatur, Al., and  three beloved daughters, Cynthia Owen (Dan) of Paducah, KY, Suzanne Caris (Bob) of Milton, Fl, and Michele Carabello of Walden, CO. He has 7 grandchildren, Carrie Brown and Lorie Kosarek (Houston, TX) Ryan Owen  (Paducah, KY), Scott Caris and Kristin Barnes, (Milton, FL) Kayla Bohn (Denver, CO) and Emily Zwirn (Sterling, CO), and 6 great grandchildren. 
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, May 2, 2016 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Burial with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 4 2016, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY.
