Betty Englert, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at her home.

 

Mrs. Englert was born in Calloway County on September 4, 1930 to the late Cecil and Vera Darnell.  She was a former candy maker for Gilliam Candy Company and active parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  She had a love for traveling, camping, sightseeing, bluegrass music festivals, yard work and gardening.  Her true passion was for her family and she was the ultimate caregiver as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  

 

Betty will be remembered by those who loved her as both loving and caring, yet tough as nails, and someone who lead by her example of unconditional love.  

 

Mrs. Englert is survived by her husband of 68 years, Henry Englert; her daughter, Shelia Wood; her granddaughter, Jessica Moore; her grandson, Jason Wood; six great-grandchildren, Brooke Doughty, Blake Doughty, Kaley Wood, Emma Wood, Abbey Moore, and Eva Moore; six sisters, Adda Hughes, Wilma Jean Traughber, Kaye Leavitt, Faye Bealer, Kathleen Watson, and Rose Hopkins; three brothers, Richard Darnell, Charles Darnell, and Billy Joe Darnell; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Doris Sutton, Martha Hausman, and Loma June Reeves; and one brother, Jerry Don Darnell.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Homes with Rev. Robert Drury officiating.  Burial will follow at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Homes.
