Mr. Timothy "Tim" Hawkins, age 60, of Calvert City. KY died Saturday, December 24th at 4:45 p.m. at Lourdes hospital in Paducah, KY.

A native of Calvert City, Tim was a member of the last class to graduate from North Marshall High School in 1974. He attended Paducah Community College and Murray State University.

Tim was employed in the hospitality industry and held management positions at hotel properties. On August 28, 1983, while serving as manager of the Holiday Inn in Henderson, Tim sustained injuries in a shooting incident that left him paralyzed.

He courageously underwent an extensive rehabilitation program that enabled him to be active in many community organizations. Tim was elected to the Calvert City Council in 1986 and served 13 terms and was reelected to the Council in November. He was an active member of the Marshall County Democratic party and was an avid booster of the Marshall County High School athletic program serving as president of the Backboard Club basketball boosters. Tim also served as a director of the Jackson Purchase Electric Cooperative Council.

Tim was a member of the Calvert City United Methodist Church and served for many years as chairperson of the Administrative council.

He is survived by one brother, Kenneth Hawkins of Calvert City; sister-in-law Debbie Hawkins of Nashville, TN; two nieces Kendra Bristow and her husband Andy and their daughter Hadley of Nashville, TN, and Amanda Lyles and her husband Chase and their daughter Jentry of Nashville, TN; an uncle, Howard Hawkins of Mayfield, an aunt, Katie Rogers of Mayfield; several cousins and numerous friends.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman and Virginia (Egner) Hawkins.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m, Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Calvert City United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Gregory Waldrop officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Dees Cemetery.

The family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Calvert City First United Methodist Church, 571 Oak Park Blvd, Calvert City, KY 42029.
